Welcome to our new Executive Director!

From Johanna Gattuso, Board Chair

We’d like to extend a very warm welcome to Änna Ibrahim, our new Executive Director!

Ms. Ibrahim emerged from a robust and talented pool of candidates following a comprehensive search that spanned several months. After extensive interviews with the search committee, staff, and board members, Ms. Ibrahim clearly demonstrated that she has the passion, experience and heart to lead our organization in our work to meaningfully and thoughtfully impact the issues surrounding food access.

Änna comes to Shalom Farms with a demonstrated track record of success throughout her career. Most recently, Änna has been working for Faith in Public Life, a DC-based advocacy organization. As Chief Operating Officer, Änna designed and facilitated key organizational processes, including embedding a racial equity lens into program planning, strategic planning and visioning. Änna’s strong leadership and organizational skills are complimented by her thoughtfulness and collaborative nature; she is an empathetic listener and a consensus builder. Änna is passionate about food access, equity, and the mission and vision of Shalom Farms.

Before her work at Faith in Public Life, Änna developed new programs for non-profit organizations, including Bread for the City, a direct service organization that provides comprehensive services to D.C.’s most vulnerable residents. Änna holds a BA in Middle Eastern Studies from Hamline University and a MBA in Design Strategy from the California College of the Arts.

We look forward to working together with our staff, volunteers, supporters, and community to welcome Änna as our new Executive Director in June!

A Note from Änna:

“I am thrilled to be joining the talented team at Shalom Farms. Shalom Farms plays a critical role in ensuring access to affordable, healthy food in Richmond. I am excited to build on that legacy, expanding our impact and imagining new ways to engage our community.”
