Through 2025 and 2026, a significant portion of proceeds from local painter Scott Love’s artwork will be donated to Shalom Farms. We’re excited to share his current work, a modern rendition of the “Three Perfections,” on exhibit now at Art Works RVA.

Scott primarily paints oil landscapes. What distinguishes Scott’s work is that each painting is accompanied by an original poem written in his own calligraphy. This approach draws from the Japanese and Chinese tradition known as the Three Perfections, a practice spanning more than 1,200 years that brings together painting, poetry, and calligraphy into a single work of art.

About Scott

Scott Love discovered his passion for art while a midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He began sketching as a means of maintaining balance and mental health within the demands of a rigorous military environment and spent much of his free time studying works in local galleries, laying an early foundation for a disciplined and observational approach to art. Much like Winston Churchill, who turned to painting as a refuge from the pressures of leadership, Scott came to understand that both creating and observing art can be restorative—strengthening the spirit and supporting mental well-being.

Scott has been painting in watercolor for more than twenty years and now divides his practice between watercolor and oil painting. His subject matter includes floral, aviary, and landscapes.

His work has been commissioned by major charitable organizations for fundraising initiatives and donor engagement, and has been exhibited at the World Bank in Washington, DC, in conjunction with International Women’s Day. On a selective basis, Scott has also participated in local juried exhibitions, and his paintings are held in private collections.
